VegTech’s Railroad Herbicide Program is effective at controlling vegetation in several aspects on the railroad right-of-way. By applying broadleaf herbicides, we are able to reduce undesirable vegetation and control noxious weeds while encouraging the growth of grasses, which help to block out and prevent undesirable vegetation from returning. This is ideal for areas along the edge of the right-of-ways and especially near crossings, as this allows unrestricted view for both autos and trains, while helping the crossings to meet visibility requirements and standards. VegTech’s applicators are also trained to apply herbicides on bareground areas such as along ballasts and in rail yards, where no vegetation is desired. This allows for proper drainage and improves visibility while maintaining a desirable appearance, which increases efficiency and maintains safety standards.

Our herbicide program also provides an effective and efficient means of brush both along the edge of the right-of-way as well as along railroad powerlines. Not only does this prevent brush from interfering with the powerlines, but it also helps to control undesirable vegetation allowing for easy access for maintenance crews and equipment to the powerlines and all parts of the right-of-way.
